This fits the bill perfectly. I am very happy with this player. The battery has good lifetime between charges and I have no complaints at all. It was delivered just as described and works great. I was wanting some thing I could listen to music and watch movies in bed on. The company I bought from was great as well. They shipped really fast with no problems.
I have had this for awhile but it only worked about 4 times. The screen is too dark and unwatchable when it is on full brightness. Even in a dark room. I would avoid this DVD player.
I have had many other Audiovox units and in the unlikely times when there was a problem, the company went above and beyond the neccessary means to satisfy me. I love my dvd player. My kids enjoy this one more than their video games. And the best part is that the service is so wonderful. Love it. Sometimes we share the player with the rest of the family too.
I like the feeling of being listened too and cared about. This one has a nice sized screen as well. This you don't get from other electronics companies like Sony, Panasonic, or those brands you never heard of before. You also know how it can be with traveling even on short trips. Best electronics I ever bought. That is why I always buy this brand.

My D1718 just recently broke. However, it now only plays cds. I have tried the support site with no luck. just past the 90 warranty. Though this unit still plays cds, I would never buy a cheap audiovox unit again. I would rate our usage of it as medium. I have only had it for 4 months. Anytime a try to load a dvd it spins up, makes a bad sound, and then says that no disc is inserted.
The unit worked great until it broke. It seems to have good features and the video resolution is pretty good. I reset the software but still had no luck. It costs too much to throw away after 4 months.
Nothing but static and noise. Clearly, the manual should have mentioned this.
The travel portion worked fine. The problem is that I didn't attempt to hook it up to our bedroom TV until about four months after I bought it.
I wanted to use this product for travel and as an additional DVD player for our bedroom. After doing an internet search, I discovered that the AV jack supposedly detects an external device and switches accordingly.
The manual instructs the user to switch the AV in/out switch to "out" when connecting to a TV. Problem is, there is NO AV in/out switch.
In any event, it still didn't work. In summary, if you want to use it for a standalone DVD player, it's ok, but don't waste your time or money if you need to use it with a TV.
